Net heat current at zero mean temperature gradient

چکیده

The existence of a net heat current conductive thermal waves is demonstrated even in the absence mean temperature gradient. This effect, which we called shuttling, generated by temperature-dependent conductivity materials excited with excitation periodically modulated time. We show that this modulation gives rise to superimposed on one gradient, enhances transport when increases temperature. By contrast, if decreases as increases, thermal-wave inverts its direction and reduces total flux. reported shutting effect sensitive amplitude periodic excitation, can facilitate observation application harvest energy from variations environment.

Decoherence at zero temperature

Most discussions of decoherence in the literature consider the high temperature regime but it is also known that, in the presence of dissipation, decoherence can occur even at zero temperature. Whereas most previous investigations all assumed initial decoupling of the quantum system and bath, we consider that the system and environment are entangled at all times. Here, we discuss decoherence fo...

Chaotic temperature dependence at zero temperature

We present a class of examples of nearest-neighbour, bounded-spin models, in which the low-temperature Gibbs measures do not converge as the temperature is lowered to zero, in any dimension.

Entanglement energetics at zero temperature.

We show how many-body ground state entanglement information may be extracted from subsystem energy measurements at zero temperature. Generically, the larger the measured energy fluctuations are, the larger the entanglement is. Examples are given with the two-state system and the harmonic oscillator. Comparisons made with recent qubit experiments show that this type of measurement provides anoth...

Driving convection in a fluid layer by a temperature gradient or a heat current.

Bifurcation properties, stability behavior, dynamics, and the heat transfer of convection in a horizontal fluid layer that is driven away from thermal equilibrium by imposing a vertical temperature difference are compared with those resulting from imposing a heat current. Similarities and differences are elucidated. In particular various paradigmatic backwards bifurcating convection structures ...

Mean-field phase diagram of disordered bosons in a lattice at non-zero temperature

Abstract. Bosons in a periodic lattice with on-site disorder at low but non-zero temperature are considered within a mean-field theory. We show that, not only at vanishing but also at non-zero temperature, both the Mott-insulator and the Bose-glass phase are unambiguously distinguished by their density of states at small energies. We obtain the phase diagram of these phases as well as the super...
